High-performance threading. Boring and grooving
Thread tooling specialist Vargus Tooling has expanded its MiniPro Threading Solution range with the new microscope line of single-ended micro tools. The new microscope line is claimed to be unmatched for highly accurate small bore (down to 1.7mm diameter) threading, grooving and boring applications in all materials(Figure 3).

Featuring high wear-resistant VBX TiCN-coated inserts (of 4, 5, 6 or 7mm diameter) for both high- and low- cutting speed tasks, the microscope range offers consistently high- performance in all popular applications:
Threading. ISO, UN, Whitworth, NPT, partial 608 and partial 558.
Boring. The new design of combination boring and long nose copy tools(maximum depth is 1.75mm) promotes excellent chip evacuation.
Grooving. Square grooving at profile widths of 1, 1.5 and 2mm, and to depths up to 0.8, 1, 1.8 and 2.5mm; round grooving to radius size groups up to 0.5, 0.75 and 1mm; internal and external face grooving to depths of 2-6mm.
In addition, microscope is suited to pre- part off applications, and is designed to eliminate any burrs created during cut-off.
The newest addition to Vargus Tooling's MiniPro line of Threading Solutions– Mini, PowerBore and double-ended Micro – Microscope also features a new fast and easy clamping system using a single screw, together with a slanted location system for precise radial and axial positioning, guaranteeing highly-repeatable edge height and overhang.
A large coolant channel and two nozzles for excellent chip evacuation and cutting edge cooling complete the long list of innovative features that enable the new tooling to upgrade existing small bore machining performance.
