Rapid manufacturing material

3D Systems, a provider of 3-D Modeling, Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing solutions, announces the availability of DuraForm High Strength and Temperature(HST) Plastic, a strong, temperature-resistant rapid manufacturing material for use in its Sinterstation HiQ SLS Systems.

Incorporating advanced fibre technology, DuraForm HST Plastic is an engineered material for applications that require improved strength, higher stiffness and elevated temperature resistance. According to 3D Systems, with more cost-effective pricing than carbon-fibre filled materials and better recyclability than other competitive materials, DuraForm HST is a cost-effective solution for both engineering applications and general purpose use.

DuraForm HST claims good accuracy and repeatability in all X-Y- Z-directions. This white-coloured material is said to be easy-to-process, resulting in parts with excellent surface detail. Processors performing secondary sanding or machining operations can expect to experience nice results with minimal effort.

As this non-conductive material is RF transparent, aerospace and motor sports customers concerned about faraday cage effects are said to have embraced this material. Specific applications include UAV components, housings and enclosures and low- to mid-volume manufactured parts.
