This study attempts to contribute to a better understanding of the operation of the public library system in Nigeria by using the Bauchi Public Library as a case study. The text reviews the origin and growth of the Library over the years and finds that the Library is book oriented and thus basically caters for literates. The existing resources of the Library are evaluated while the problems facing it are documented. Recommendations are made with the view to bringing about the general improvement in the Library in terms of management structure and providing more facilities to cater for all categories of users.
