Purpose

The main purpose is to establish an evaluation model for the maturity of enterprise data governance, and based on this evaluation model, select suitable enterprises for empirical analysis to test the scientificity and guidance of the model.

Design/methodology/approach

Firstly, by obtaining policy information, literature information, and expert interview information, a maturity evaluation index system for enterprise data governance was constructed using text analysis, literature analysis, and expert interview methods; Secondly, the Delphi method is used to improve the indicator system through two rounds of expert scoring, and the combination weighting method is used to determine the indicator weights. Finally, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method was used to select representative enterprises for data governance for empirical analysis.

Findings

The evaluation index system for the maturity of enterprise data governance constructed in this article covers 5 primary indicators and 20 secondary indicators, including management foundation, talent data literacy, data governance effectiveness, institutional guarantee and data security capability. We selected an internationally renowned manufacturing enterprise and evaluated its data governance maturity using the developed data governance maturity model, obtaining a maturity level of managed.

Originality/value

This study collected data from government policies, literature and enterprises, developed a maturity model for enterprise data governance and applied the model to empirical research in enterprises, providing reference for enterprise data governance.
