I propose to take up your time this evening on what you might call a personal topic. I am going to try to put before you some of the problems that are agitating the minds of those who work in large general libraries and to try to suggest how the work of these libraries and the work in which you members of Aslib are daily engaged tie up together to form the pattern of library services which it is our job to provide.
