The system, devised initially to satisfy the needs of our Test Department, sought to locate, in the shortest possible time, vital information from a backlog of about twelve thousand reports, together with current additions. The main object was to reduce the number of technical man‐hours involved in searching for the answers to questions posed by management, other departments and firms.
