In 1919 the Stationery Office published a booklet written by the Treasury called, Notes for the use of Registry Branches. This was an excellent little guide to carrying out all the tasks which we associate with registries. We do not now know what effect its publication had but we can see that much of what it covered is still recognisable in our own present‐day registries, and much of the advice is still valid.
