Research on voice-based smart homes is imperative to advance our current understanding and implementation of Internet of Things technology in residential settings. This growing field has significant potential for revolutionizing the way individuals interact with their living spaces. As voice-based smart homes become more prevalent, thorough research is required for the development of user-friendly and secure system.
A comprehensive model was formulated by integrating the value-based adoption model and artificial intelligence-related factors. This model underwent testing with a sample of 515 respondents using partial least squares structural equation modelling.
The study identified perceived automation as the key variable of users’ continuous intention to use smart homes, followed by service quality and warmth. A positive relationship was established between continuous intention to use smart homes and users’ well-being (WB) and energy efficiency (EE). Further, research highlighted the moderating role of personal innovativeness in shaping users’ continuous intention.
This study stands as a pioneering investigation, delving into the relationship between the adoption of voice-based smart homes and its impact on user WB and EE. It employs an integrated model that comprehensively considers the benefits and sacrifices of this technology.
