Silver cities: planning for an ageing population in Singapore. An urban planning policy case study of Kampung Admiralty Available to Purchase

Simona Azzali is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture at Prince Sultan University, Riyadh. She is an interdisciplinary researcher with a background in urban planning and design. Her research crosses a wide spectrum including urban spaces in tropical Asia and the Middle East, liveability and social sustainability of public spaces; place making; mega sporting events and their impact on the built environment. Simona Azzali is passionate about cities and a strong advocate of a people-oriented and participatory design approach to build better cities by design. Prior to commencing her appointment at PSU, she worked and researched for various renowned academic institutions as James Cook University Singapore, the National University of Singapore, UCL London, Politecnico di Milano, and Qatar University.

André Siew Yeong Yew, an environmental and social urbanism researcher, is a recent graduate with a Master of Urban Planning and Design degree from James Cook University. He is also an international architectural illuminating designer with multiple lighting design awards. Prior to the extensive career, he attended Parsons School of Design at NYC and University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he received his Master of Fine Arts in Architectural Lighting and Bachelor of Science in Interior Design degrees respectively. Besides publishing research, Andre is pursuing science fiction writing with a strong social-urbanism theme. He continues to consult in architectural lighting design and resides in Singapore.

Dr. Caroline Wong is the Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching and Senior Lecturer at James Cook University, Singapore. Her research in knowledge management takes on a multidisciplinary approach that extends into knowledge-based cities, smart cities, creative cities, and creative industries with special focus on Singapore. In recent years, her research also focused on applied topics like food security and waste management in urban cities. Her academic research also extends into the scholarship of teaching and learning in higher education with focus on work-integrated learning, student support as well as future trends in higher education.

Dr Taha Chaiechi is an Associate Professor of Economics in the College of Business, Law and Governance, where she is also Australia Director, Center for International Trade and Business in Asia (CITBA). Taha is an expert in the systematic modelling of dynamic relationships between economic, environmental, and social variables. Taha's research attitude is holistic and inspired by issues in climate change and natural disasters and their impacts on different economic sectors such as health, tourism, environment, energy, and cities. Her multidisciplinary research approach has resulted in numerous collaborative projects over a broad spectrum of research topics, with the intention to enhance methodological approaches that are especially suitable for sustainability analysis.
