Library advocates are gearing up to campaign for a huge increase in Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funding, from the current funding of less than $200 million to more than $500 million. "It's really a matter of equity",said Emily Sheketoff, director of the ALA Washington Office. "Successful programs should be available to everyone, not just where they're pilots."The proposal also requests that one-half of 1 percent of LSTA funds go to the Institute for Museum and Library Services for evaluation of the impact of the increased funding. http://www.libraryjournal.com/articles/news/thisweek/20010122_17318.asp
