Connecticut libraries are grouped into six Cooperating Library Service Units that include public, academic, special, and public and private school libraries. These non‐profit organizations each are run by a board of trustees elected by the membership. Their creation was authorized by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1975, and membership was mandated in 1981. They also provide a vehicle for communication with the State Library.
