According to publishers, price increases are likely to be less pronounced than in the last three years. Preliminary predictions from EBSCO Subscription Services put price increases at 8.5-10.5 percent for US and non-US titles. Factors influencing prices are publisher-pricing policies regarding online journals, general economic conditions, and the currency impact, including first-time consideration for the Euro. In 1999 academic libraries' subscriptions increased by about 8 percent; corporate and public library subscriptions increased by 4 to 7 percent. Medical libraries had the highest overall price increases (8.9 percent), with their US titles increasing by 11.7 percent and non-US by 6.6 percent. The stronger US dollar is in some part behind the lower increase in non-US titles.
