Joint-use libraries in Florida, too

Another joint-use library project intended as a cost-saving initiative around the nation is the plan that the Seminole City Council approved 26 September 2000. A $6.8 million library facility to be built on the Seminole campus of St Petersburg Junior College campus will also serve as the Seminole Community Library. The new facility, which will be almost twice the size of the city's 17,000 sq.ft present site, is scheduled for completion in 2003. Although the council approved the project in concept on 8 December 1998, it took several more months to finalize the contract language, including an exit clause and lobbying the state legislature during the 1999-2000 session for the final $3 million needed to build and equip the library.
