MR R. McEWAN, Shell UK Exploration and Production

Can the Authors of Paper 12 comment on the problems arising from the presence of sulphate reducing bacteria (SRB) at water/hydrocarbon interfaces on concrete structures?

Regarding the inspection and maintenance of steel structures offshore, would the Author of Paper 13 confirm that a good record is develop ing of the integrity of behaviour of welded tu bular steel and other structures? In my experi ence, a very high percentage of defects identi fied during planned maintenance and inspection programmes have been defects built in during the construction/fabrication stage.
