AUTHORS' REPLIES

Mr N. J. Pugh (Author of Paper 2), who opened the series of Authors' replies to the discussion, remarked that as Authors had been requested to combine in their reply any special points made in introducing the Paper and in replying verbally, together with any further comments necessary to deal with subsequent written contributions, he had decided that this composite reply should be of an omnibus character. It was hoped that those who had taken the trouble to add to the value of the Paper by their contributions to the discussion, either verbal or written, would not consider it discourteous or indicative of a lack of appreciation if the Author covered in general terms the various points raised, without particular reference to the individual submissions which had been made.
