Mr J. H. DENYER, Airport Director, Newcastle Airport
Papers 21-23 highlight the problem of airport costs. The first, dealing with fire and safety, brings to mind the amount of equipment and men required for general licensing of airports. This equipment is expensive; the problem is to keep up with technology, progress and development and to ensure the equipment purchased is not going to be obsolete within twelve months of obtaining it.
Mr Nash referred to the types of extinguishing media that are required; he mentioned protein foams, fluoro-protein foams and fluoro chemicals but did not mention bromochloride difluoromethane. I think the abbreviation is BCF.
