Compressed air interventions in TBM are different from previous techniques for tunnelling in compressed air. A general safety package has been established from 15 years of experience in 57 TBM tunnelling operations up to 6.9 bar. Team organization and corresponding training contents are presented. The basis for the training content and requirements is the French Regulation (1990/91). A formal certification for hyperbaric work is delivered at the completion of training. The certificates are recognized in France and by French companies working abroad. A European harmonization shall be welcome, not only for workers but also for Hyperbaric Operations Managers and Lock Operators. Experience collected in various countries show local application of the same principles of safety organisation. General safety of compressed air work is not only decompression tables and training but a comprehensive package covering all aspects based on specific risk evaluation.
