In the view of information theory, control theory, system theory, methodology for zoning of engineering stability of rock masses is proposed in this paper. According to themethodologyoptimal model for zoning criterion selection, identification model for particular discontinuities in rock masses, neural network learing model and model automatical generating network which possess many irregular inner boundries are discussed. A CAD system for engineering stability zoning of rock masses is developed. The comunication technology of expert system with CAD software is introduced to automatize engineering stability zoning. The application oft he methodology and its CAD system in Chinese Chenchao iron mine shows that they are scientific and practical.
