PROFESSOR O. C. ZIOKIEWICZ

Professor and Head of Department of Civil Engineering, University of Wales, University College of Swansea.

He joined research team of Sir Richard Southwell pioneer of finite differences and relaxation methods and obtained PhD in 1945. From 1945-1949 was working in design and construction of dams with consulting engineers Sir William Halcrow & Partners, London. In 1949 he became lecturer at University of Edinburgh and in 1957 became Professor Structural and Civil Engineering at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, USA. He was appointed to his present position in 1961.
