B3: Use of computers — contracting from main frame to micro

My half of the presentation on the Use of Computers in Contracting moves away from the applications side to look at the equipment and the people. My chosen title is "Main Frame to Micro" but it could equally well have been "Twenty Years of Computing Change within George Wimpey" because I am using the Wimpey experience to Illustrate the trends that have taken place and to look into the future.

The five topics I shall briefly cover are the developments in the computer technology; the changes in human attitudes and understanding; the change in the primary purpose of computing; the linkage of communications and computing; and finally take a look at some of the pitfalls the new user should try to avoid.
