This paper presents the results of studies of the pore structure and the permeability for several hardening cement pastes. Cement pastes with water/cement ratio of 0.40, 0.50 and 0.60 from 1 day to 28 days were tested with mercury intrusion porosimetry. In parallel, the water permeability was measured. With the help of a numerical simulation model the correlation between the pore structure and permeability was found. The water permeability is more related to the pore size distribution and the effective porosity. The de-percolation of capillary porosity was found neither from experiments nor numerical simulations during the first 28 days after casting.
