PAPER 7

MR A. G. BRINSON, Rendel, Palmer and Tritton, London The marina at Brighton proved to be uneconomic on account of the high cost of the breakwaters.

The marina at Eastbourne, which is based on the different idea of forming a channel through the beach, has been studied for about 15 years. However, developers have still not been persuaded to proceed with the project, presumably because of the capital cost of the breakwaters and, in particular, the high cost of maintenance dredging of the entrance and beach replenishment of the east side where erosion will occur. Do the Authors believe that such a project will be developed?
