that it was interesting to reflect that almost at the very hour at which the

Meeting was being held, exactly three years ago, the first units of the

breakwaters which would be shown on the screen were being placed in

position under fire, and then fulfilled their functions in the landings in

Normandy.

Dr. W. G. Penney, introducing the analytical section of the Paper on

Bombardon observed that the theoretical work associated with the
