Thank you for your circular about the first National Congress of Civil Engineering and Design Education.

I have discussed your letter with several of my colleagues andI am attaching to my reply a statement which I hope adequately summarizes our views and serves also your purposes. I hope that the Department of Civil Engineering at Newcastle will be represented at the National Congress but we have not made a definite decision yet. Perhaps you would be kind enough to let me know further details as they develop.
