The Chairman
Why do you not test the automatic equipment against a known input on the TRRL track?
Mr Hillier (Paper 9)
To simulate a three lane motorway on the TRRL test track with the variety of vehicle classes required would be very expensive. Film analysis of the existing M4 motorway site is a more attractive method of confirming the accuracy of the automatic classifying equipment.
Mr F. Mulder (Traffic Management Systems, Netherlands)
Traffic Management Systems is not only a manufacturer but acts as a consultants office, used free of charge by the government. Very often one works perhaps two years to try to find equipment, only to learn that the government have changed their mind or go to another manufacturer.
