8. Progress on civil engineering and planning of a Mersey tidal project

The paper describes some recent studies which have been carried out for the proposed Mersey tidal power barrage and outlines key results which have an impact on design of the civil engineering works. A brief description of construction options currently being examined is given and the paper concludes with a typical programme for construction.
