SESSION 2—Response: measurement at full size

Dr H.H. PEARCEY (Session Chairman)

Since the Ewijk Bridge appears to be an example at full scale for which the vortex—shedding oscillations were similar to those predicted from wind tunnel tests in smooth flow, it would "be interesting to know what the turbulence characteristics were for the site of the bridge. Were these measured, or alternatively can they be inferred?

Mr A.J. PERSOON (Author, Paper 7)

No turbulence measurements were carried out because of the low wind speed, as expected at vortex-shedding, and also because of the smooth terrain.

Mr E. HJORTH-HANSEN (Norwegian Institute of Technology)
