I wonder whether the slope type and permeability of the armour layers above the toe might have a more relevant influence on the toe stability?

I suggest that the authors compare and integrate their test results with those reported within MAST projects on coastal structures, possibly to expand the range of applicability of the formulae. Finally, it would be useful to give a measure of the scatter and uncertainty of the formula, as typically produced in similar experimental studies by the author, to allow for probabilistic calculations.
