This paper presents results of drained conventional and stress path triaxial tests performed on MSW great dimension samples (200mm of diameter). The waste studied comes from Metropolitan Center Sanitary Landfill (Salvador-Brazil). In order to evaluate the influence of time since disposal on MSW mechanical behaviour, samples were collected in the disposal front (new residue) and on places where a time of 4 years was expected since disposal. MSW samples were molded with an unit weight of about 10 KN/m3, what means a dry unit weight of about 5 KN/m3, considering an average water content of 100% (dry basis). Typical friction angle and cohesion intercept versus axial strain curves are showed, allowing to evaluate the influence of the time since disposal on MSW mechanical behaviour. Besides that, are assessed the influence of the stress trajectory on the MSW behaviour and the effect of the time since disposal on the fibres mechanical properties.
