This Chapter reviews the history, applications and different forms of modular construction that may be used in buildings and presents general guidance on their structural design, including stability and robustness. Test information is presented on the load resistance of cold formed steel C sections with boards of various types on one or both sides. The factory production of modules is reviewed.
