Chapter 8: No-regret Decisions

Industries involved in the design, delivery and operation of the built environment are forecast to experience rapid and significant change in the next decade and more, but with all of the potential technologies available and challenges ahead it can be a real challenge to know how to prepare and where to start. This chapter presents a number of decisions that need to be made, or areas that can be considered, to provide a good starting point whilst minimising the need for abortive work in the future. The majority of the recommendations are cultural or process focussed, and not reliant on the application of technology directly and so are technology agnostic, but provide the basis for successful implementation of technologies going forward.
