This Chapter considers how a BIM Strategy and BIM Brief is developed by an Appointing Party with the assistance of an independent BIM adviser, and how those said documents are developed into an Exchange Information Requirements document. This Chapter also explains how a Lead Appointed Party leads a team of Appointed Parties to ensure that the required BIM deliverables are provided. This Chapter also considers why it is important that standard BIM specifications / standards are established and used to encourage standardisation and collaboration and deals, in particular, with the BS EN ISO 19650 set of international standards of good practice. The types of BIM models required are considered and the Project Information Model and the Asset Information Model are considered in some depth in this Chapter.
