This Chapter considers the procurement phase, the planning phase, the production phase and the project close out phase of the BIM process. The invitation to tender is dealt with as are the BIM Execution Plan, the Risk Register, and the Responsibility Matrix. The importance of and the role of the Task Information Plans and the Master Information Delivery Plan are considered. Also the way that the collaborative production of information is collected, stored and distributed from a Common Data Environment (CDE) database using a Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) spreadsheet is set out in this Chapter. The production of the Asset Information Model from the project Information Delivery Model is explained in this Chapter, and also how this links in to the need for lessons to be learnt and the ‘golden thread’ of information.
