The practical outcome of the NRA, Anglian Region, strategic approach to North Norfolk was eagerly awaited. The short-term approach must not be allowed to prejudice long-term policy.
An example was given of a Norfolk conservation partnership. There was a need for conservation bodies to speak with one voice. Co-operation on conservation was taking place between MAFF, the NRA and English Nature.
One speaker suggested that there was a need to recreate mud-flats, although some doubt was cast on the likely outcome. The Australian experience at Botany Bay was mentioned as an example of birds developing a new habitat after being displaced.
