MR G. REYNOLDS, North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board

The North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board has been wrestling with flood estimation problems for many years. A large leap forward has been made possible by Mr Jenkinson and the Wallingford team. If I seem to cavil at some of the detail, it is only the detail;I agree wholeheartedly with the philosophy and principles which form the basis of the Flood studies report*

The reportf says that investigations for widely different regions of the UK showed that the variation of areal reduction factor with area and duration is the same everywhere. These regions are Bedfordshire, Gloucestershire, Surrey, the Chilterns, the Trent and south-west England, and are hardly widely different.
