DISCUSSION

With reference to Paper 6, is fine grain emulsion a problem?
DR TOZER, Paper 6
Suitable holographic emulsions are available commercially and are likely to continue to be, at least for moderately sized plates (250 mm x 200 mm). In fact the requirement for fine grain emulsions is an advantage for PIE as these emulsions are affected little by radiation, so that direct exposure to the very active fuel elements should not reduce holographic quality.
MR RATTRAY
With regard to AGR fuel elements, is it proposed to use the holographic technique purely as a visual inspection tool or so that measurements can be taken from the resultant hologram? If it is for measurement, to what accuracy will this be?
