5 Public perceptions on nuclear waste

You may remember a television comedy series of the 1970s called Fawlty Towers. There was one programme where a pair of psychiatrists, man and wife, checked into the hotel and met the proprietor, John Cleese.

After a few moments of his hostfs manic exuberance the man turned to his wife, nodded in the direction of their host, and observed darkly: "Enough material there fora conference".

Which is how I feel about the invitation of the British Nuclear Energy Society to speak to you on public perceptions of nuclear waste - or nuclear anything else. There is ample material here for a three-day conference - enough ideas in the letters column of the Guardian alone although the BNES may not be the learned society which should call that conference.
