Experimental results obtained by testing deformational properties of high strength concrete, as compared to values predicted according to Eurocode 2 (ENV 1992–1–1), are presented. Deformational properties tested in the scope of this study are modulus of elasticity, shrinkage and creep. Four different high strength concrete mixtures (from 50 N/mm2 to 72 N/mm2) were prepared, and each was represented by at least 16 specimens. Test results were compared with equations given in various recommendations, models and codes, such as ACI 209R–92, Eurocode and Model Code 90. This comparison shows that current equations are not applicable to our results. It can also be seen that different quantities of cement in mixtures of similar consistency must be taken into account in the expressions to forecast deformational properties. The results of these tests stress the importance of experimental determination of deformational properties of high strength concrete, using locally available materials.
