This paper describes experimental results of shear capacity of concrete beams reinforced by PVA short fibre. Loading tests were carried out on various reinforced concrete beams with PVA short fibre having different fibre types, fibre contents, shear reinforcement ratios, effective depths, and shear span-to-effective depth ratios. As a result, it was confirmed that shear capacity is improved by mixing PVA short fibre in concrete and that the increase in shear capacity is governed by the content of fibre and the effective depth of beam. Furthermore, the fibre was confirmed to effectively behave in beams showing the tied-arch resisting mechanism. Therefore, we proposed an equation to evaluate the shear capacity of concrete beams reinforced by PVA short fibre with small shear span-to-effective depth ratio by using the bending-point stresses in the tension softening curve and the effective depth of beam.
