IN THE FIELD OF TRANSPORTATION we are somewhat tied to problems of airport access. I prefer to deal only with those methods of access I think make sense within the time scale under discussion, that is, up to the advent of jumbo jets and supersonic transports..

It has been stated that 50% of the passengers arriving at New York Airport will travel to the city centre. This is possibly true, but if a train, monorail or helicopter service is provided, will they not still use taxis, private cars or rented cars? It is essential to obtain good data and to analyse them carefully.
