SIR PETER MASEFIELD (Chairman)

Almost every country in the world approaches its

airports strategy from a different viewpoint,

believing of course that this is the only right

and proper approach. The Authors of Papers 4

9 are from countries with widely differing air

transport and general aviation environments.

At the moment, the perennial problems of the provision of adequate airports are more acute than at any time. The discussion in Session 1 emphasized the new initiatives to introduce lower fares which must produce a higher than previously expected rate of growth in the number of passengers using the major airports during the next decade. There is also the serious problem of the supply and price of fuel.
