Question – Theo Kaltsas, KBS Maritime: Regarding the bearing capacity of the platform and berthing loading, were there any bollards for berthing?

Answer – Ian Wenkenbach: I don’t know the bearing capacity of the platform off by heart, I would have to refer you to the designer, Delta Marine Consultants. There were two types of bollards structures installed on each side of the wharf. The bollards on the wharf face itself were directly installed on and connected to the internal steel structure of the wharf. The ones outside the structure of the wharf were installed on precast foundations tied into the rock using drilled tension anchors. In addition, a gravity-based foundation for a hydraulic crane was installed in the wharf infill based on a frame with precast concrete blocks which acted independently of the wharf structure itself.
