As part of a conceptual design study, 2D physical model tests have been conducted to determine the required geometry (height and shape) of a wave wall located on top of a caisson in deep water, non-breaking wave conditions. During these tests, the wave pressures have been measured via five pressure sensors above still water level to determine the maximum wave loads to be taken into account for the structural design of a bullnose seawall. In this paper, the measured maximum horizontal wave forces of the 2D physical model tests are compared to theoretically predicted horizontal wave forces following the design methodology proposed for recurved (90°) parapet seawalls by Castellino et al. (2021).
