Compaction grouting involves the injection of stiff grout that does not penetrate the ground. Bulbs of grout are formed. It is applied to free-draining granular soils. The aim is to increase the density of the soil being treated by applying high local pressure. The design of compaction grouting is based largely on experience and empiricism. If the soil is not sufficiently permeable for consolidation to occur as it is treated, excess pore pressures may be generated, which will dissipate after treatment. The potential effect of such excess pore pressures on the compaction achieved is considered here. It is found that the efficiency of treatment may be reduced substantially.

La cimentation de compactage passe par l'injection d'un ciment rigide qui ne pénètre pas dans le sol. Des bulbes de ciment se forment. Cette méthode est pratiquée sur des sols granulaires à drainage libre dans le but d'augmenter la densité du sol à traiter en appliquant une pression locale élevée. La solution de cimentation compactante est basée largement sur l'expérience et l'empirisme. Si le sol n'est pas assez perméable pour que la consolidation ait lieu pendant le traitement, il peut se produire des pressions de pores excessives qui se dissiperont après le traitement. Nous étudions ici l'effet potentiel de ces pressions excessives sur le compactage obtenu. Nous constatons que l'efficacité du traitement peut en être réduite de manière significative.
