Sustainable building design covers a wide range of interrelated issues, and the introductory volume in this series explores these in more detail (Ainger and Fenner, 2014). This complexity makes evaluation of sustainability impacts difficult and time-consuming to consider in full for an individual building development. Few buildings are designed and constructed by a single person or organisation, and, as a result, projects typically involve a high level of communication between the design and construction team members in order to deliver the final building. This requires careful and informed management at many levels and the need to measure and communicate in a way that will be easily understood and actioned by all parties.
