Walk-over survey (reconnaissance) checklist

It is important to realise that the walk-over survey is not simply a look around the site. It is essential that those undertaking the walk-over survey actually examine the site in detail, and note all issues that may have a geotechnical and/or geoenvironmental impact. For this reason, those undertaking the walk-over survey must be experienced in such things, in order that they are capable of identifying features on site that may be typical of geotechnical and/or geoenvironmental issues.

A typical checklist is provided below, but this should be developed further dependent on the site being inspected.
