First page of The Road Less Traveled<subtitle>The Best Practice of Teacher Choice</subtitle>

My office bookshelves, home bookshelves, one shelf of my downstairs bookshelf, and one shelf of my upstairs bookshelf, are all devoted to volumes and volumes of professional books. I rarely read them cover to cover. Instead, I look for parts that are of interest to me, are relevant to a project I’m working on, or are related to my work with teachers as a professional developer and curriculum director. Twenty pages into Best Practice (Zemelman et al., 1998), I realized I have read parts of and regularly consult and recommend the fourth edition of Best Practice (Zemelman et al., 2012), and teachers love it!
