The purposes of this study were to explore meditation as a tool for developing the professional practice of a sitting superintendent and interpret ways that mindfulness supported leadership to respond to difficult problems and challenging feelings. Data were gathered and analyzed using an autoethnographic method. Incidents are shared to describe how mindfulness cultivated coping, courage, and compassion.
