Anti-racist leadership education is crucial to the development of leaders in all spaces who can lead in a manner that ensures equity in practices and outcomes for all. This is especially crucial when racist policies and systems of oppression within educational spaces inherently exclude and create inequity for historically excluded groups (HEGS). In the field of higher education, anti-racist leadership education expands beyond developing the multicultural competency of our faculty educators, to include student leaders, professionals across campus, and community partners. Those educators and researchers centering anti-racism in their leadership development approaches could benefit from understanding the reasons that make discussing racism difficult.
