On February 1, 2023, The New York Times article, “The College Board Strips Down Its A.P. Curriculum for African American Studies,” revealed the never-ending assault on the education of Blacks in the United States (Hartocollis & Fawcett, 2023). The College Board, accused by some to have amended the curriculum to appease White conservatives, denied this allegation. However, the actions of the College Board were likely no surprise to Black Americans. After all, throughout the history of the United States, Black Americans had no choice but to lead the way to educating their young. Such was the case for the development of Black high schools some years following the American Civil War.
